The Anatomy of a Clean Trade Setup
Sanchit Chopra•Apr 09, 2026•5 min readChart Setup

Not every chart is a setup. Here's the four-part checklist that separates a high-quality opportunity from a coin flip.
A clean setup has four ingredients: location, structure, trigger, and risk. Miss any one and you're guessing.
Location: price must be at a level that matters - a prior swing, a value-area edge, a liquidity pocket. Setups in the middle of nowhere are noise.
Structure: the higher-timeframe must agree. Counter-trend trades require tighter targets and faster exits.
Trigger: a confirmed candle, a break of a micro-structure, or a volume signature. Never anticipate the trigger - react to it.
Risk: defined before entry, sized so a loss is a paper cut. Survival is the only edge that compounds.
